Shakespeare By The Sea, a nonprofit organization that was launched in 1998 by Producing Artistic Director Lisa Coffi, rolled into Hermosa Beach July 12th and 13th showcasing Macbeth and the Taming of the Shrew at the Hermosa Beach Valley Park. The Free Summer Festival is for everyone! It is the only annual admission free theatrical event that serves the entire South Bay, LA, and parts of Orange and Ventura Counties and are the only Shakespeare company on the West Coast that travels to over 20 communities with its programming. The 2017 Summer Solstice annual volleyball tournament took place on June 24th in Hermosa Beach. Congrats to the winning team consisting of Mike Dodd, Luke Walton, Laura Sikora and David Swatik.

Smackfest started in 1994 at 15th St in Manhattan Beach with only 50 participants … and has grown into the Largest Coed 4’s Tournament on the West Coast. It’s a perfect mix of volleyball, sand, sun, fun, and friends which truly embodies the So Cal lifestyle. Besides great volleyball action, they have top DJ’s, sponsor village with tons of great deals and freebies, as well as the Sharkeez/FIN fashion show. And don’t forget about the Pro Division featuring some of the best players in the world!!
