A highly anticipated swell hit the South Bay in late January.

I had some concerns as I tracked this swell.  I thought the shape would be really good (a high interval swell usually is great news) but the distance of the power source was too far away to give us that HUGE swell we all want to see. I was calling an occasional overhead set. Rumors were running around the South Bay of double over head plus predictions. I was wrong, not about the height but the shape.  Too much west in it for the South Bay.  Everywhere saw mostly walled conditions.  Some spots never got overhead.  Don’t get me wrong, there were a couple good ones (as shown in this video).  I shot these clips over a 2 days period.  Featured surfers include Tyler Hatzikian, Dane Zaun, Jake K-Baum, Matt and Chris Mohagen, Scott Smith and others.
