No secret passwords are necessary for ROB RUBENS DISTILLERY AND BREWERY speakeasy themed tasting room. Opened in a repurposed mid-century brick building in El Segundo’s Smoky Hollow district last June, RRDB is South Bay’s only purveyor of fine spirits and brews. Owner Rob Ruben’s lineage is his inspiration. His great grandfather and family organized the Royal Theatre Company, who in 1926 constructed the Joliet, Illinois landmark, Rubens Rialto Square Theatre, a popular hangout of gangster Al Capone and his buddies.

Discover Mickey’s Famous Deli In Hermosa Beach
Mickey’s Italian Deli in Hermosa Beach has been a go-to stop for beach goers since 1953 selling cold cuts, cheeses, sandwiches, lasagna and a ton of other goodies (they also cater). Michael Angelo “Mickey” Mance started Mickey’s Italian Delicatessen & Liquor Store in 1953. Just a short walk from the beach, it quickly became a favorite spot for surfers and beachgoers. It has now become a beloved landmark in the South Bay.

Beer Craft- A Tour of Smog City Brewing in Torrance
Smog City Brewing Company owner Laurie Porter takes us on a tour of their brewery in Torrance,Ca.  Smog City opened their Torrance location in 2013. Since gaining recognition for their flagship beers, the brewery’s Coffee Porter and Saber Tooth Squirrel (the latter was the winner of 2016’s World Beer Cup silver medal in Philadelphia and bronze finisher the Great American Beer Fest (GABF) amber ale/red ale category), SCBC has been looking to expand its take on craft brewing via a satellite tasting room.

Share the care with the 2017 South Bay Chili Cook Off, a family friendly charity event benefiting the Manhattan Beach Firefighters Burn Foundation. The Chili Cook-Off brought together community, Manhattan Beach Firefighters and many of your favorite local restaurants and businesses. Local chefs and restaurateurs prepared their best chili and competed for this years trophies. Participants got to taste and vote for their favorites.

The Easy Reader Newspaper recently wrote a great article about a Redondo Beach Chef, Haruo Kurisaki and it got raving comments so we decided to do a follow up video ourselves to get a visual feel for the chef and his restaurant Kurisaki in Redondo Beach so we sent Steve Napolitano to sit down with “Kuri” to interview him and grab some sushi.
