About Us

Civic Couch was launched in 2009 as a multimedia website, community organization and event group focusing on Manhattan Beach and where it’s residents work, live and play.
“Civic Couch is a reflection of our community and how we live. It’s the politics, social responsibility, the issues, and the fun things: dining, the shopping, the arts, local events. We sponsor events and projects within the community and try to build and foster local involvement. It’s about getting off the couch” explained founder by Brad Jacobson.
Using the internet, social networking and new media, Civic Couch eschews the traditional print format used by most community newspapers and newsletters. “We are more than an online paper. We hold events, support charities and local activism. It isn’t about what you think about any particular political issue, or what charity you support, but that you are involved or want to be interested in something.”
