On Tuesday, February 2nd, the Manhattan Beach City Council unanimously endorsed two environmentally friendly events, Earth Hour and Earth Week. This will be the City’s 3rd annual participation in Earth Hour, a globally symbolic action to raise awareness around energy conservation. Earth Hour will take place on Saturday, March 27th at 8:30PM. The City will participate by turning off all non-essential lighting, as well as lighting on the Pier. We encourage all residents and businesses to join us this year, and participate in Earth Hour. You can learn about more activities by visiting the Earth Hour page.

City Council also proclaimed April 17-23rd as Manhattan Beach Earth Week to honor the 40-year anniversary of Earth Day. The City will organize a series of activities to raise environmental awareness throughout the community. The Earth Week celebrations will kick off with our annual Earth Day Festival in Polliwog Park on Saturday April 17th, and will be followed by green events all week long. You will be able to find out more information on activities and events at the City’s Earth Week Tent at the Farmer’s Market on Tuesday, April 20th, and on the City’s Going Green website as the date approaches.
