This Tuesday, January 19th, the Manhattan Beach City Council will be voting on Sand Dune Park and the Surrounding Neighborhood Including but Not Limited to Closing the Dune. I Residents for both sides are expected to fill the chambers for their chance to speak up about the fate of the park.
The City of Manhattan Beach temporarily closed the Dune at Sand Dune Park on Friday, August 14, 2009. The City closed the Dune to address several issues regarding maintenance, as well as the impact the increased attendance at the Dune has had on the surrounding neighborhood and park. This three-acre park also includes a fenced small children’s play area with swings, merry-go-round and climbing equipment which all have remained open.
