Neither rain, nor snow, nor clouds stop the show…
Fireworks scheduled to go on “Rain or Shine”. A gloomy, wet forecast isn’t dampening spirits for the City’s Annual Holiday Fireworks Festival on Sunday, at 6:30 p.m. Rain, cold temperatures, and even fog will not stop the show. The only conditions that could create problems are high winds. That is determined a half hour prior to show time with a test mortar and depends on wind readings and directions.
The event also includes a snow park, bounce park, live music and of course, a visit from Santa.
3 PM – Snow Park opens;
4 PM – Bounce Park opens;
4 PM – Santa arrives;
5 PM to 6:30 PM – Musical Entertainment;
6:30 PM – Fireworks show begins
The Warm Coats and Warm Hearts Coat Drive is still going strong. Remember the Fireworks Festival presents a great opportunity to bring coats, hats, scarves, gloves or mittens to any of the numerous downtown drop-off locations:
- Mind Body Manhattan – 815 Manhattan Ave
- Memphis Café at the Beach – 1142 Manhattan Avenue
- Look! Optometry – 451 Manhattan Beach Blvd. (Metlox)
- Beach Cities Christian Fellowship – 730 11th Street, Hermosa Beach
- Bella Beach Kids – 225 Manhattan Beach Blvd.
- Jan Davidson Skin Care – 806 Manhattan Beach Blvd. #209
- Trilogy Spa – 451 Manhattan Beach Blvd. (Metlox)
Here are details on the street closures:
The City of Manhattan Beach will be hosting its Annual Holiday Fireworks Festival on Sunday, December 13, 2009, at 6:30 PM at the Manhattan Beach Pier. This event draws a very large crowd and requires closing streets and rerouting traffic in and around the Downtown area.

• Southbound Highland Avenue will detour to southbound Valley Drive at 15th Street
• Northbound Highland Avenue and northbound Manhattan Avenue will detour to northbound Ardmore Avenue at First Street
• Fifteenth Street will be closed to eastbound and westbound traffic at Valley Drive/Ardmore Avenue
