In the immortal words of Kool and The Gang “Oh yes it’s Ladies Night, and the feelings’ right!” and Manhattan Denim took that to a new level. Many businesses attempt to cater to groups of women and throw a promotion night. This can often be a sad bottle of wine, maybe some pink balloons while pushy salespeople add a buzz of urgency rather than the intended effect. Manhattan Denim took that stereotype and shattered it, using some innovation and cooperative marketing with other local businesses, creating a unique event that needs to be on the calendar of every local fashionista for the next go-round. Denim’s owners Tiffany and Jon Mesko show why the boutique still has its doors open when others are shuttering throughout the South Bay and nation.

Approximately fifty lucky ladies were treated to a chance to peruse Manhattan Denim’s high end jeans lines, in addition to several other local small businesses in a range that made the entire event seem like a small exotic themed party. Aroma therapist Carla Cohen set up shop in a corner providing information on classes, and applied sample essential oils to those needing relief from fatigue, stress or insomnia. Barefoot Wine (an AVP sponsor – Jon Mesko is also an AVP player finishing 13th at the Chicago Open last weekend), provided another type of refreshment with several different bottles open for samples. Massage Spot, another local mini day spa chain with two Manhattan Beach locations provided complimentary chair massages. Most unique were the henna tattoos being provided by Beauty Mantra. Giveaways went beyond the standard coupons, as Sarah Hart of Hermosa Beach won a wristlet from Hobo Handbags. Soul Tree Center a neighboring movement and wellness studio offered free classes to six lucky winners courtesy of owner Karin McDermott, also on hand. The eclectic collection provided a funky feel in the small boutique, more reminiscent of an bazaar with ladies having a chance to lounge and relax in the club chairs, or linger watching the intricate henna art unfold.

Also on present, Tysa Wright owner and founder of Tysa designs for a trunk show with her breezy cotton voile dresses being modeled by Manhattan Denim staffers. The collection (made entirely in the USA) is straight from the pages of InStyle, Us Weekly and People appearing on Hollywood A-listers like Kate Hudson. Most surprising was the Malibu based designer appearing in person to mingle with the attendees, answering questions and offering styling tips.

Manhattan Denim is located at 920 Manhattan Avenue, Manhattan Beach and offers both men’s and women’s clothing, website is www.manhattandenim.com.
